Commercial buildings consume 21 percent of New Zealand’s electricity, costing businesses $800 million annually. NABERSNZ(tm) is a tool used to rate and demonstrate the energy efficiency of New Zealand’s office buildings.
A NABERSNZ Certified Rating provides a star rating from 0 to 6, clearly indicating your building’s energy performance relative to others. This rating takes into account factors such as the building’s climate region, energy inputs, floor/building size, occupancy rates, and services, ensuring a fair and repeatable performance score.
There are three types of ratings:
Base Building Rating: Measures the energy performance of the building’s core services, such as lifts, stairwell lighting, common toilets, air conditioning, and ventilation.
Tenancy Rating: Evaluates the energy use of the areas exclusively occupied by the tenant, including computers, lighting, data centres, and staff kitchens.
Whole Building Rating: Combines both base building and tenancy ratings to provide a complete overall performance picture.At Ekdahl Property Management, some of our team are in the process of studying and becoming accredited NABERSNZ assessors.
